FARM TOUR IS HERE

Hello Chimacum Corner Community!

The whole crew here at the Corner is proud to host Farm Tour Central once again. As we scan the map of all the amazing stops opening their farms and fields, we’re over here envisioning the slots on the shelves where we stock their wares. This whole situation on the corner of Center Rd and HWY19 was birthed on the premise of showcasing local foods and goods. And as September has now officially been declared Eat Local Month in the state of Washington as well, we are proud to be one hub of many in our region trying to showcase the best of what our county has to offer. This newsletter will be a tour of its own, highlighting all of the farms on Farm Tour that stock their products at CCF.

We will go in the numbered order of the Farm Tour map/brochure, so if you have one out already, follow along!

Gariss Gardens

Catch their seasonal bouquets on our Produce Porch, but this weekend go grab a bouquet from their Farm Stand in town!

Sailor Vineyard

Proud to have Sailor in the hyper-local section of our wine rack. Hop on a tour of the vineyard and winery this weekend.

White Lotus Farm

From their beginnings at the Corner with a small basket on the Produce Porch for their Bread Share CSA pick-up, to a dedicated spot on the local bread rack, we are proud to carry the Gluten-Free Sourdough loaf of Natalie Motson which has developed a cult-like following in our county. Catch their other offerings (like Space Lotus blooms) farm-direct at White Lotus this weekend!

Space Twins Provisions

One of several staffer/farmers on the CCF crew, we are always thrilled to see Space Twins on the Produce Porch. With their microgreens available all season long (look for the UFO), plus small batch no-till veggies, intermittent Space Lotus floral offerings, and carving pumpkins, they are truly out of this world. Check out their booth (and many others) at White Lotus Farm!

Heartwood Nursery

We always look forward to bare root season in the Nursery, as we have the pleasure of stocking Logan Fields’ amazing selection of bare root fruit and nut trees. Operating at Natembea Northwest, be sure to get a jump on what trees are in the Heartwood pipeline with a tour of the nursery stock this weekend.

Soft Step Farm

Another stellar farmer from the Natembea crew, Pierce Kennedy grows truly gorgeous nutrient-dense produce. He is a master of season extension and lean greenhouse management.  We are proud to stock his produce year-round out front on the porch. Check out all of his late summer wares at Natembea on Sunday!

Port Townsend Vineyards

With multiple tasting facilities, a beautiful barn/winery, and a vineyard in town, PT Vineyards is a true powerhouse in the local winemaking industry. They are offering tours of the Portuguese Hill Vineyards this weekend. Get sippin’!

SoulCedar Farm

Max and Sage of SoulCedar create truly delectable shrubs, and we have a rotating stock of their seasonal flavors on our wine rack end cap! Sip one, sip all of their vinegars at their booth at Compass Rose Farms in Discovery Bay this weekend!

Egg and I Pork

Doyle Yancey is one of our finest local pig wizards, and we have been proud to stock all of his pork products for many years. This year was a great return to the nursery for Doyle, as we have been stocking his luscious floral hanging baskets all season long as well. Check out his farm this weekend—it is a treasure trove of idiosyncratic agricultural wonders!

Fairwinds Farm

We have stocked the Fairwinds wine labels on our rack for many a year. They have hands-on activities, lavender field strolls, and more at their 15-acre family-owned farm this weekend, get out there!

Gray Fox Farm

Laurae Hughes and her crew at Gray Fox turn out some amazing products, and we are proud to have their jams, eggs, and honey at the store. Take a run down the Beaver Valley Route and check out their gorgeous slice of valley bottom farmland.

Dharma Ridge Farm

One of the few truly large-scale wholesale farms on the Olympic Peninsula. Over the years we have stocked many crops from the Dharma team on the produce porch (most recently their delectable sweet corn!). They are also somewhat neighbors of CCF now, due to their continued lease at Glendale Farm, just down Center Road. Go check out their booth at Glendale Farm this weekend!

Kodama Farm & Food Forest

One of the longest-standing farmer-staffers of CCF, Grace Thompson and her brother Ben (and their respective partners) operate their myriad farm businesses at their home, Kodama Farm & Food Forest. In addition to their outstanding produce, we also carry most of Grace’s line of goat’s milk soaps in our health and beauty section. No Farm Tour journey is complete without a peek inside Kodama’s tropical geodesic greenhouse, and a jaunt down the road to their gardens and high tunnel.

Wilderbee Farm

Casey and Eric have an immaculate farm with abundant U-pick opportunities all season long, not to mention a timber-framed cathedral of a Meadery to boot. We are very proud to carry a selection of their meads on the rack at the Corner. Plus a trivia fact: Casey and Eric were the ones who gifted us our iconic Aermotor windmill! Go say hi to their Soay Sheep and sip some meads with a custom bouquet you picked yourself on the table!

Hope to see HERE at FARM TOUR CENTRAL!
