LIST-O-MANIA
As clerks, we find people’s shopping lists laying around the store sometimes. It’s neat to see how people organize their thoughts, and the cornucopia of handwriting styles. Whether your holiday list is worthy of an excel spreadsheet, or a little ink on the back of your hand, we’ve got what you need to make it through the next week. From the first cracker on the plate, to the last slice of pie out of the dish, we would be proud to serve your feasting needs. So make your list, and check it twice! And as ever, keep it local when ya can!
FRIENDS OF THE TREATS
We’ve got all the sides you need for the big dance. We are just in time for the delectable, immaculate green beans from Covilli Organics. They always arrive literally glowing green. We also have yellow potatoes from hometown heroes Midori Farm, and a solid shot of brussel sprouts from River Run Farm, plus Midori and Stellar Jay. Also our woody perennial herbs will be coming from Spring Rain Farm this year in steady supply! On the fruit side, we’ve got the early spoils of the citrus season, with satsuma mandarins and navels flowing steady. And we will have an abundance of cranberries for y’all to relish in. The produce team is full of old pros this season (plus some new exceptional friends too!) so be sure we will have the porch all buffed out for you when you come in for your haul.
LOCAL ROOTS: Our carrots are LOCALLY GROWN AND HARVESTED by RED DOG FARM, our neighbors down Center Valley Road. They ARE NOT a part of the recent carrot recall.

U KNOW IM SUCH A FOOL FOR U
The Corner Kitchen folks have been hard at work gearing up for the big dance as well. They have concocted their very own Cranberry Sauce recipe that is sure to brighten plate and palettes alike. Tart and citrusy, pick some up on your next stop in to the shop. Fun fact: did you know that 20% of the entire annual cranberry harvest is consumed around Thanksgiving?
And DO NOT miss out on the Cranberry Cream Cheese Turkey Sandwich in the deli fridge. We highly recommend the extra side of Cranberry Sauce for dipping.
THE ANSWER IS BLOWIN’ IN THE WIND
Chimacum Valley Grainery is the perfect hub for all of your baking dreams. We are proud to carry a selection of their stone-milled flours, as well as their bread and pastries from their baking team (if you have yet to try a Rye Sable, you are missing out!). Did you know that the Grainery has a flour named after Keith’s Grandma? ‘Eileen’ is a beautiful Purple Wheat developed by the WSU bread lab and trialed by CVG from the outset of its development. The Grainery is a new treasure of our local food producing scene, come on out and sample their wares. After you do your shopping, head across the street to Finnriver where you can get Grainery micro-brews on draft!
RINGS OF GLORY
What better way to decorate your home space than with a locally grown, locally made wreath? We’ve got gorgeous mini dried floral wreaths from Forest Elf Farm all around the store, and we will have luscious evergreen wreaths from Sky Island Farm for sale in the foyer again this year as well. Bil Thorn of Sky Island was named Farmer of the Year at the 2020 Tilth Alliance Conference, and furnishes a large CSA as well as many restaurant and wholesale accounts from his farm in Humptulips. And surely you’ve gawked at one point or another at Amy Ockerlander’s specialty blooms stocked at the Corner, particularly her tulip bunches. It makes our jobs easy when we have access to such stellar farmers’ hard work.
Turn your gravy into a work of art with great deals on a slew of broths in the pantry section of the store. We are featuring Chicken and Vegetable broths from the Bonafide brand on our main endcap display. In both no-salt-added and original forms, save $1.50 on these pantry staples at the Corner. We also have great deals on Mushroom, Beef, and Vegetable broths from the Pacific Foods label. Don’t forget to look for frozen bone broths in our freezer aisle! Time to get things a-bastin’!
Don’t be hung out to dry this holiday, we’ve got great prices on cooking oils this month. The entire line of La Tourangelle oils are on special, whether you need olive, avocado, “suncoco”, grapeseed, or walnut oil! We also have deals on peanut and canola oils from Spectrum, and a discount on avocado oil spray from Cadia brand. Stock up for the long nights of cooking ahead!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CCF!
Turnip officially turns 14 on November 22nd! What a journey it’s been. If this old tin roof could talk! The Corner has pushed through some big acquisitions in recent times and stands poised to serve the community for years onward. We do it all for the “regulars” - you know who you are. We also do it for our beautiful staff, those intrepid souls who show up for shifts week after week, keeping the air light and the vibes right. So many have walked the aisles between the metro racks over the years, the story of the Corner is truly a tapestry of our community.
