card welcoming Rosa's Taco Cart and wishing luck to Zoog's new BBQ restaurant

One food cart leaves and another rejoins us:

Starting today, Rosa returns with her beloved Taco Truck and will be serving tacos, burritos, and changing chef specials on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 11am to 3pm – ¡Que Bien!

Zoog’s BBQ leaves the Corner at the end of Sept to open a restaurant and music venue in Hadlock. Sad for us, but great for the community and we wish Zoog and Michele the very best of luck!

A Chimacum treasure returns to the neighborhood. Rosa’s delicious authentic Mexican food is well known to most of us from the Port Townsend Farmer’s Market, various catered events, and her previous stint at the Corner. For the last year she has been running “Rosa’s Delicia Mexicana” at the Discovery Bay Golf Club.

Rosa, a long time Chimacum resident, was born on a small ranch outside Veracruz, Mexico and cooked for her big first event at age 10 (mole for a cousin’s wife’s stillborn’s funeral). At age 13 her family moved to Austin, TX where she continued to hone her cooking skills, learning first from her mom and later from her mother-in-law. She claims to love to cook, but hate to do dishes. Fortunately she’s found that if you cook well enough, others are more inclined to help!

It’s going to be hard to see Zoog’s cart leave, but it is success and your patronage that has catapulted them to this next level. Zoog and Michele have bought the Hadlock House property and on October 8th will be opening a southern style BBQ joint that will be open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. Big music fans, Bret and Michele will be booking bands on weekend nights and if we’re lucky, soon they’ll be serving weekend breakfasts (I’m hoping grits, ham, biscuits and gravy). The menu will be offering all the items we’re currently addicted to and I’m told much more. Can’t help but have a good feeling about this place – a Hadlock landmark in the making.

On Friday, Oct 12th, they’ll be celebrating the grand opening by roasting a whole pig that will be ready to carve by 5pm.  The impressive roast will be set up in the dining room and carved to order.  The live music will feature a local folksinger.  Zoog is recommending reservations which you can make by calling 360-301-5939.  Also check out their NEW WEBSITE!
