Yep, it’s that glorious time of year again when our beloved Chimacum Farmers Market returns! Every Sunday from 10-2, Jun 5th through the end of October, several local farmers, food venders, crafters, and a band will set up their tents on the field behind the Corner.

New and special this year, the first Sunday of every month will cater its music and activities to kids. Just so happens that June 5th in addition to being Opening Day is also a “Kid’s Day”, the Tour de Forts, and the Kul Kah Han Native Plant Sale. And don’t forget, Finnriver Orchard’s new tasting room and public space is now also open across the street. Let us elaborate one by one:

Chimacum Farmers Market: This year all the usual suspects we adore will be there along with some newcomers. Rumor is we’ve got new prepared food venders. Such a special little “can-do” market we’re blessed with!

June’s First-Sunday-of-the-Month “Kid Day”: In the spirit of Tour de Forts, the Recyclery will be hosting an inner-tube toss for kids. Red Dog will bring a tractor perfect for climbing. Sunfield Farm, the YMCA, and Millbrook Pottery will provide crafts. The Hadlock Library will tell stories while Anne-O and Her Band play music. The next Kid’s Day after this will be July 3rd with Harmonica Pocket and more! Get these first Sundays on your calendar and bring your pals!

Tour de Forts: Your choice – 35 miles, 62 miles, 100 miles, or a shorter “fun ride” for beginner bikers. Multiple water and snack stops are provided along with festivities at the end. Don’t forget to stop by the Chimacum Farmers Market to pick up your free water bottle! Pre-register if you want to participate.

Kul Kah Han Native Plant Sale: At the Corner from 10-2, a wide variety of native trees, shrubs, grasses, flowers, and ferns. Great prices and selection with proceeds going to benefit the Kul Kah Han Demonstration Garden at H.J. Carroll Park in Chimacum.

Finnriver Orchard New Tasting Room: Open Sundays 12-6. As long as you are here, don’t miss out on checking out Finnriver’s exciting new venue across the street. Every Sunday they will have free music (Honeyville Rascals this week 2-5), Dented Buoy Pizza, Hama Hama Oysters, plus all sorts of activities such as Bocce, self-guided Orchard Tours, and a scavenger hunt for kids. Or just sit yourself at the repurposed dairy feeding trough, cider in hand, and watch.

One favor to ask: If you are going to visit Finnriver from the store, please drive and park there so we have enough parking for the store and farmers market. Thank you!
