Building our Produce Department
December 16th, 2016 by Katy McCoy
"Cherry" Opportunity in Produce!

Once again we are interviewing to keep pace staffing our rapidly growing award-winning produce department. Last year alone the department grew over 20%, thanks to our abundant local organic farms, our loyal discerning customers, and our service oriented hard-working crew. We were proud to be voted by PDN readers as having the “Best Produce in Jefferson County”.

We’re currently hiring one 4-5 shift/week Produce Clerk to work a combination of evenings and mornings. We’re also looking to line up one or two Produce Clerks starting in spring. For the right clerk hire who demonstrates passion and skill and is looking to build a career in produce, there is a path to become our new “Produce Lead” alongside Rob – a “cherry” opportunity indeed!

As a Produce Clerk, you’d join a crew of 6, and get trained in produce-handling, display, and our computer POS system. The opening shift runs 7:30 am – 2:30 pm and the closing shift 2:00 – 8:30 pm. We are looking for individuals who are willing to commit for >1 year.

As our Produce Lead, you’d have the added responsibilities of ordering, interfacing with local farmers and distributors, quality control, and co-creating with Rob a singular department that in 5 years may very well be twice the size it is today. There’s lots of room for career advancement in this position. We’re looking for someone committed to our local agricultural community who is interested is staying long-term.
