Big Hurdle – Corner Gets a “POS System”
May 22nd, 2011 by Katy McCoy

It wasn’t an easy process, but Chimacum Corner now has a state-of-the-art POS system. POS stands for “Point of Sale” and refers to the hardware and software system that tracks inventory and sales, checks out customers, and prints receipts.  We were advised that if we want to grow, prosper, and continue to serve the community into the future, this was a necessary investment. Big thanks goes to Jesse Olsen who spearheaded the research and implementation, and to all of the staff who stayed late for inventory counts, data entry, and memorization of PLU codes.  Also huge thanks to Steve Habersetzer of Oatsplanter Farm who built us no doubt the most elegant check-out counter in Washington!

We are still working out the kinks and learning how to best taylor the system to our needs, but a couple of the early benefits to our customers will be a faster smoother check-out process and an itemized receipt.

For those who are interested enough to still be reading, the system we went with was Comcash out of Newport Beach, CA.
